This global webinar report synthesizes key insights from international leaders in the field of arts in health, tracing the field’s evolution, emerging research, and the growing call for decolonized, community-centered practice. Drawing on the work of Vivien Speiser and Tony Yu Zhou, Jill Sonke, Naj Wikoff, Susan Magsamen, Nsamu Moonga, and David Leventhal, the report highlights how the arts serve as a vital modality of healing, health equity, and social transformation. Integrating research from the World Health Organization and major US arts organizations, the webinar panelists advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration and culturally grounded practices that position creativity as both a human right and a health imperative.

Abstract
This article provides an overview of the history and development of music therapy in the Chinese medical setting. It also describes a pilot project established by a Western-trained music therapist in a Chinese psychiatric hospital in 2013. The project aimed to explore how to apply music therapy based on Chinese cultural needs; educate and inform participants (medical staff, patients, and families) about issues and potentials related to mental health; clarify common misunderstandings using contemporary music therapy perspectives; and engage patients in different music therapy models to improve their functioning. The project has been ongoing for four years and has produced promising outcomes. The challenges arising from the integration of Chinese and Western cultures are also discussed in this article.

The Flowing Tao of Expressive Arts Therapy, the theme of the 11^th International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA) created “the way” to bridge the wisdom of the East to that of the West. This conference birthed a global village at the Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village, Hong, Kong where over 400 people gathered to honor the Eastern and Western practitioners, artists, educators and their acumen in expressive arts. As the first IEATA conference in Asia, two thirds of the participants were from Asian countries, demonstrating the vibrancy of expressive arts in Asia as well as coupling with the West, with 26 countries represented!
The intention of the conference was to create a community that invited formal and informal dialog, as well as making the conference affordable to many who live in developing countries through the numerous scholarships offered. The choice of the Youth Village provided a setting in which we all lived, ate, played and studied together with a taste of nature in urban Hong Kong. The feedback we received reflected our intention that the conference enhance dialog and bonding among our many international participants.
